Sinossi:

In un Far West provenzale, in un’Occitania desertica, i cavalli sono biciclette e le pistole fionde. Lì, Mado e i suoi fedeli compagni cavalcano, da feroci pistoleri quali sono, dovendo essere molto duri per ottenere il rispetto come cricca di minoranza di genere in un mondo dominato dagli uomini. Un giorno, un potente e pericoloso ranchero affida loro una nuova missione. Il figlio del vecchio è stato ucciso dalla moglie Eisabèu, e sebbene conceda alla vedova un ultimo pellegrinaggio presso la sua protettrice Santa Sultana, lei dovrà poi essere messa a morte. Mado e le sue amiche devono essere sia accompagnatrici al luogo di culto, sia carnefici una volta arrivati. Lungo la strada, mentre affrontano i numerosi pericoli che vagano nella natura selvaggia, come la terrificante Wheel Gang, Mado confronta il suo pragmatismo con l’esaltazione religiosa di Eisabèu. Si oppongono alle loro strategie per sopravvivere in una società violentemente parziale, ma dalla sfida nasceranno nuovi sentimenti. Tuttavia, si stanno avvicinando al santuario di Santa Sultana e all’omicidio promesso. Synopsis:

In a Provençal Far West, in a desert Occitania, horses are bicycles and guns are slingshots. There, Mado and his faithful companions ride, like the ferocious gunslingers that they are, having to be very tough to gain respect as a gender minority clique in a male-dominated world. One day, a powerful and dangerous ranchero entrusts them with a new mission. The old man’s son was killed by his wife Eisabèu, and although he grants the widow one last pilgrimage to his protector Santa Sultana, she must then be put to death. Mado and her friends must be both escorts to the place of worship and executioners once they arrive. Along the way, as they face the many dangers that roam the wilderness, such as the terrifying Wheel Gang, Mado compares his pragmatism to Eisabèu’s religious exaltation. They oppose their strategies to survive in a violently biased society, but new feelings will arise from the challenge. However, they are getting closer to the shrine of Santa Sultana and the promised murder. Right under the sacred statue, Mado will have to face one last battle and make the terrible decision. Rita Moll is a nail artist, bartender and art school graduate. He also writes and programs events for queer media and collectives. She works primarily around femme lesbian identities and the performance of high femininity in a dissident queer context. “Sainte Sultana” is his first film.

“La solitudine, la difficoltà di esprimere i sentimenti, la mancanza di impegno… Ulises vive cieco pensando che David gli darà davvero una possibilità un giorno, una possibilità di sentirsi amato… Ma quest’uomo sta solo giocando con lui. E per me era importante che il personaggio principale fosse consapevole che le cose non cambieranno mai e che deve lasciarsi alle spalle quella relazione tossica che ha con David, il fuckboi”, è con queste parole che il regista da un quadro di ciò che vuole esprimere nel suo cortometraggio.

Carlos Jiménez Lucas è un giovane regista spagnolo nato a Madrid. Attualmente sta completando un master in regia cinematografica e produzione cinematografica presso la scuola EFTI. Fin da piccolo ha sempre mostrato interesse nel raccontare storie e, col passare del tempo, si è reso conto che quelle che lo affascinavano davvero erano quelle che si collegavano, in un modo o nell’altro, alle emozioni umane. Carlos Jiménez Lucas is a young Spanish director born in Madrid. He is currently completing a master’s degree in film directing and film production at the EFTI school. Aura Sala è nata nel 1994 a Bellcaire d’Empordà, una piccola cittadina di Girona. Aura Sala was born in 1994 in Bellcaire d’Empordà, a small town in Girona. Sinossi:

Daniel e il suo migliore amico Franco vanno in campeggio in Patagonia, ma quando il loro zaino e la tenda cadono da un dirupo sono costretti a cercare riparo. Oltrepassano una cabina vuota e festeggiano i loro ultimi giorni insieme prima che il college li separi. Daniel deve ancora fare chiarezza sui suoi sentimenti per Franco e la mattina dopo si sveglia da solo, lo cerca e lo trova in mezzo alla campagna, con una caviglia slogata e lo zaino a cui avevano rinunciato. Mentre fa guarigioni al piede, Daniel affronta Franco riguardo al suo futuro studio lontano da casa, ma lui insiste sulla sua necessità di andarsene. Per dimenticare la faccenda, Franco propone un segno per ricordare il loro viaggio e la loro amicizia: un taglio sulle sopracciglia. La vicinanza del momento crea tensione tra loro, e quando i loro volti stanno per incontrarsi, arrivano i proprietari della cabina. Fuggono in modo irregolare tra le urla e una volta lontani da loro, Daniel bacia Franco, lo ricambia… finché non si rende conto di cosa stanno facendo. Come due sconosciuti, Daniel e Franco concludono il loro viaggio senza dire una parola. Una macchina li va a prendere mentre fanno l’autostop, dietro Daniel lancia un’occhiata a Franco ma lui non ricambia lo sguardo. È troppo tardi.

Synopsis:

Daniel and his best friend Franco go camping in Patagonia, but when their backpack and tent fall off a cliff they are forced to seek shelter. They pass an empty cabin and celebrate their last days together before college parts them. Daniel has yet to clarify his feelings for Franco and the next morning he wakes up alone, looks for him and finds him in the middle of the countryside, with a sprained ankle and the backpack they had given up on. While healing his foot, Daniel confronts Franco about his future practice away from home, but he insists on his need to leave. To forget the matter, Franco suggests a sign to remember their journey and their friendship: a cut on the eyebrows. The closeness of the moment creates tension between them, and when their faces are about to meet, the owners of the cabin arrive. They flee erratically amidst the screams and once away from them, Daniel kisses Franco, kisses him back… until he realizes what they are doing. Like two strangers, Daniel and Franco end their journey without saying a word. A car picks them up while they are hitchhiking, behind Daniel glances at Franco but he doesn’t return the look. It’s too late.
